The Woodsman’s Wise Words

A woodsman was once asked, “What would you do if you had just five minutes to chop down a tree?” He answered, “I would spend the first two-and-a-half minutes sharpening my axe.”

The Woodsman’s Wise Words

The Wall Street Journal published an interesting article by Sue Shellenbarger online yesterday entitled, “Do You Resist New Tech at the Office?”, which is well worth a read.

As a company whose raison d’être is introducing new tech – specifically our cloud venue and event management software – it’s an interesting look at why it can sometimes be a challenge to persuade users to let go of spreadsheets and fully embrace our centralised calendar system, ArtifaxEvent. We’ve quite a few customers who can’t bear to be parted from our workhorse desktop product, ArtifaxEventClassic, either!

Fear of the unknown is the biggest factor. However, just like the woodsman sharpening a blunt axe before starting to chop logs, taking a little time to get to grips with purpose-built ArtifaxEvent will save time and effort in the long-run. The basics are easy, but it’s well-worth exploring the rich functionality available, from sophisticated invoicing to artistic programming. Our support and consultancy teams are here to hold your hand for every step of the way and, if you prefer self-guided learning, you’ll find a wealth of training documentation and videos in our Help Centre.
