Australia – SCM using Artifax to drive efficiencies
Part of the University of Sydney, The Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM) is Australia’s premier tertiary music institution. ‘The Con’, as it is affectionately known, is also the home of the Conservatorium High School for musically exceptional secondary students.
Following a major redevelopment, the new facilities, completed in 2001, are regarded as among the finest in the world with five performance venues and over 130 teaching and practice studios, spanning almost thirty thousand square metres.
SCM have been users of Artifax Event Classic, including Artifax Event Staffing, since 2011, and turned to Artifax’s Asia-Pacific Distributor, Get Smart Consultancy, to help them better manage student recitals and exams. The process had, to that point, required administrators to grapple with multiple spreadsheets.
As proof-of-concept, Get Smart Consultancy designed a solution using standard Artifax Event Classic features including custom fields, contact data import and staff availability rules. Integration with Artifax Event Online enabled students to view their schedules using a browser and to download examination materials.
SCM were delighted with the design and the resulting efficiencies and have subsequently purchased additional licenses for this new project, for implementation in October 2014.

Greece – The Apollon Theater installs Artifax
The Apollon Theater in Hermoupolis, the main town of the island of Syros, is an important landmark and a symbol of the island’s financial and cultural prosperity circa mid-19th century. Constructed between 1862-1864, to the designs of the municipal architect Pietro Sambo, it remains to this date an architectural jewel, and one of the oldest indoor theatres of modern Greece.
In the heyday of the theatre, many distinguished artists and leading theatre companies, from Greece and abroad, performed on its stage. In the ‘50s, the theatre entered a period of decline and eventually closed, deemed unsafe and unsuitable for performances. Since its restoration in 2000, the theatre has become a summer destination for lovers of the arts from all over the world.
In 2014, the Apollon Theater celebrates 150 years of life with a major upgrade programme. Part of it is the installation of the Artifax Event booking system to ensure optimal and transparent organisation of event programming. The new upgrades also include the development of branding identity and the introduction of a venue manager. A campaign is now planed which is aimed at highlighting and promoting the history and activities of this unique theatre at a global level for the first time.

Artifax sales administrator, Rebecca Hall, will be taking part in annual Lord Mayor’s Show in London. This well-loved pageant, which requires newly elected Mayors to present themselves at court and swear loyalty to the Crown, has been taking place in the City of London for nearly 800 years. It will be Rebecca’s first time in the Lord Mayor’s Show, marching with the Household Troops Band of the Salvation Army, playing the Tenor Horn. We wish Rebecca well in this undertaking; the route is over three miles long and will require a lot of stamina!

Southbank Centre are recruiting for an Events and Collections Systems Manager
The role is fully responsible for the Events and Collections Management Systems which include: Artifax Event, Artifax Event Online, Artifax Event Calendar Share and Vernon CMS, but will also look after our new Digital Asset Management System and Archive Management systems which are in the process of being procured at the moment. The role also line manages the Events and Collections Systems Administrator and manages project budgets where applicable.
